WHAT IS OVERHEAD POWER?

Power from the electricity network may enter your property via a few different methods, one of which is via overhead wiring. The majority of suburbs have an overhead electricity network where the power available from the electricity grid is located up on the telegraph poles on the street. This is the most common method of supplying power to a property. This involves a direct overhead connection from your property (point of attachment) to the electricity distributor’s network.

As the property owner, you are responsible for booking inspections and maintenance of all privately-owned power poles and powerlines – those between the first point of connection on your property to the switchboard or meter and those that extend into your property.
