PRIVATE POWERLINE REPLACEMENTS
If you have a private powerline on your property, you are legally responsible for its maintenance and safety. Powerlines become the customer’s responsibility at the point at which they are connected to the network. Newcastle Powerlines are able to upgrades to power lines, provide maintenance of cross arms, point of attachments and replacement of wood blocks.
POWER LINE HAZARDS
Private power lines and need to be regularly inspected and properly maintained. If you notice any of these common issues you will need to organise repairs or tree trimming as soon as possible.
Damaged crossarms
Over time, crossarms may deteriorate, split or become loose, leaving powerlines at risk of sagging, clashing or falling down.
Damaged fittings
Pole fittings and attachments that are loose, frayed or deteriorating are a serious safety and bushfire risk.
Slack wires
Powerlines or wires hanging too low can clash and lead to bushfires. Low wires may also breach the minimum height safety requirements.
Damaged wires
If insulation is missing or damaged, the exposed wire may be live and contact could be fatal. Damaged wires must be replaced.

Install, disconnect or reconnect underground service mains at point of common coupling and the point of supply. We are authorised from Ausgrid and Essential Energy to service your underground mains to your private pole or private main switchboard.
Overhead Service Mains
Overhead service powerlines from Ausgrid or Essential Energy’s network to private poles.
Types of category 3 work include:
- Installation of new overhead service mains from your property pole or house to the energy supplier network.
- Rectification of defect notices issued by Ausgrid or Essential Energy
- Disconnection and reconnection of existing overhead service mains at the point of common coupling and point of supply.
